Trade Realm for German Jewellery and Clocks As part of the “Jewellery Worlds” in Pforzheim, Die Werft was also commissioned to design and complete a “Trade Realm”. By Spring 2005 a suitably representative space for the local jewellery and clock making industry was erected in the historic Industriehaus of Pforzheim. Because of the central location and historic significance of the Industriehaus in Pforzheim, the centre will not only be open to professional jewellery buyers but also to the general public. The special challenge of this assignment was the task of linking interactive exhibition elements with quiet spaces for consultation and sales talks. This was solved by creating a largely open-plan room that is sufficiently structured to provide a generously proportioned display space, exuding an overall sense of quality. Illuminated display cases convey the illusion of being suspended down the central axle and reinforce the depth of the room while offering an effective, representative stage to showcase the jewellery pieces. A glass-walled design workshop also allows visitors to witness jewellery being created before their very eyes. Opportunities to withdraw from public view for confidential consultations and sales talks are provided by a VIP area that is also separated from the exhibition area by clear glass walls, which –discretion is paramount – are matt. |
